High school football recruiting already is in high gear, with two of the biggest names in the area making early commitments. Glades Central’s mammoth center Henry Orelus will play for the defending champion LSU Tigers, and Pahokee’s speedy receiver Nu’Keese Richardson is going to be a Florida Gator. Even with Orelus and Richardson off the board, there are several big-time recruits undecided.
Okeechobee running back Lonnie Pryor (6-0, 195) seems to have narrowed his list to FSU and LSU, and could decide between the two next month.
Palm Beach Central linebacker Jon Bostic, who plays running back as well, has offers from all the premier BCS teams and said he would consider making a verbal commitment by the end of the summer. Bostic is 6-2, 225 and might be the nastiest linebacker in Palm Beach County this season.
In Belle Glade, new coach Jessie Hester moved Rantavious Wooten (6-1, 190) from quarterback to full-time receiver, and that appears to be paying off quite well. He caught four passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders’ spring game victory over Miami Central. Wooten said he has offers from Miami, Georgia, West Virginia, Michigan and Arkansas, among others.

Pahokee running back Vincent Smith (5-9, 180) has drawn interest from the likes of Tennessee, Michigan and Minnesota.
