Tigers land two top line prospects
Two well-regarded linemen have committed to Clemson University this week as Tigers football coaches continue to work toward perhaps the finest recruiting class in coach Tommy Bowden’s tenure.
Kenneth Page, an offensive lineman from A.C. Flora High School in Columbia, announced at a news conference this morning that he had chosen Clemson over Notre Dame, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Brandon Thompson, a defensive lineman from Thomasville (Ga.) High School, picked Clemson over national champion LSU, among others.
While commitments aren’t binding, Jamie Newburg, national recruiting analyst for Scout.com, said the Tigers’ class is on the threshold of top 10 or top 12.
Already enrolled at Clemson is defensive end Daquan Bowers, ESPN’s top-rated high school senior.
If the Tigers land running back Jamie Harper of Jacksonville, Fla., that would clinch at top 10 ranking, Newburg said, but Harper has indicated he would not announce his decision until signing day on Feb. 6.
